First!
Ok, now that that's out of the way, I'll explain who I am and why I'm starting this blog. I am NOT a user interface engineer, a web developer, an industrial designer, or a product usability specialist. I am, however someone who enjoys being competent at many, many things and appreciates great usability when I see it. I do have a broad educational background with computer programming experience, web design experience, and limited manufacturing knowledge. I am tecbnologically, mechanically and artistically inclined. Poor UI is worse when there are simple fixes that due to lazyness, poor organizational cooperation and planning or corporate stupidity in management are overlooked.
Unfortunately, UI seems to be getting worse as of late. As complexity increases in everything from computers to vehicles to appliances, user interfaces are being overwhelmed. I'm here to highlight the good and the bad (ok, probably more of the bad simply because it's more fun to write about) in UI.
I will try to post weekly, with upcoming topics including reviews of cars, computer programs, home electronics and of course websites - social networks, news sites, blogs (including my own), politician web sites and online stores. There's a lot of material out there. And, of course, I'll be creating a Wall of Shame and as many 10-best and 10-worst lists as I can handle.
Thanks for reading.
